Women’s History Recognition

You are invited to join the College of Agricultural, Human,  and Natural Resource Sciences as we honor Dr. Jill Findeis with the Women’s History Award for Professional and Academic Leadership, Jacie Jensen with the Women’s History Award for Community Leadership and Public Service, and Sarah A. Lewis with the Women’s History Rising Star Award.

Dr. Jill Findeis

Dr. Jill Findeis (Agricultural Economics, Ph.D., 1982) will be honored with the 2008 CAHNRS Women’s History Recognition Award for Professional and Academic Leadership. Dr. Findeis is a Distinguished University Professor at Penn State University. She has achieved international distinction for her research in the field of international economic development. She is an award-winning teacher, researcher, and graduate advisor. Her research seeks to understand the impacts of economic, social, environmental, and policy change on human well-being.

Jacie Jensen

Jacie Jensen (Child & Family Studies, M.A., 1983) will be honored with the 2008 CAHNRS Women’s History Recognition Award for Community Leadership and Public Service. For 25 years, Jacie has been a vital resource to her community, county, and state. Her early adoption of desktop computing as a resource for family and farm financial planning has changed many people’s lives. Her work as a conservationist has helped to preserve native plants of the Palouse. Her educational outreach has inspired thousands of young people to consider the path their food travels from field to table.

Sarah A. Lewis

Sarah A. Lewis (Biological Systems Engineering, B.S., 1999; M.S., 2003) will be honored with the 2008 CAHNRS Women’s History Recognition Rising Star Award. Sarah started working with USDA Forest Service in 2000 and is a civil engineer with the Forest Service. In the short time since her graduation, she has risen to positions of leadership and assembled an impressive record of peer-reviewed work in addition to being an outstanding role model for women.
